About the Artist

Negar Kaghazchi (b. 1984, Tehran) is an Iranian contemporary artist based in Japan. Working primarily with painting and installation, her practice explores femininity, imagination, transformation, and the relationship between personal narratives and broader social and cultural experiences. Through expressive female figures, symbolic imagery, and playful visual narratives, her work examines questions of identity, presence, and the ways women inhabit and claim space.

Her artistic practice also extends to interactive media, bringing together traditional and contemporary forms of expression.

Kaghazchi holds a Ph.D. in New Media Art from the University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo, an M.F.A. in Graphic Design from the University of Tehran, and a B.F.A. in Painting. Her work has been exhibited in Iran and Japan. She currently teaches at Tama Art University in Tokyo.
