The Unbearable Lightness Of An Egg
My current in-progress series, titled "The Unbearable Lightness of an Egg," draws inspiration from Milan Kundera's iconic novel "The Unbearable Lightness of Being." This series comprises paintings and installations, accompanied by a poem I wrote specifically for the project. Created as a personal reflection in celebration of my 40th birthday, it represents a continuation of work I began 12 years ago, exploring the philosophical question: "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?"
With this new body of work, I revisit this theme from a more intimate, personal perspective, delving into the humanized essence of existence and the reproductive power of women. Through vivid, surreal imagery, I explore the complex interplay between the physical and emotional experiences that shape our fragmented perceptions. My work examines the boundaries between reality and imagination, emphasizing our capacity for deep emotion and the way life experiences shape our evolving sense of self.
The series also serves as a tribute to artists who have long inspired my practice, from the surrealist masters René Magritte and Salvador Dalí to the intricate 19th-century works of Persian painter Muhammad Hassan. Each piece reflects my interest in how the absurd and the real can coexist within the contemplation of life's deepest mysteries.
This painting, titled “Birth-Day,” is the main piece of my current series and was inspired by Frida Kahlo’s “The Two Fridas.”
Executed with acrylic on two attached canvases, the total dimensions are 194 cm in width and 130 cm in height.

This painting, titled “First-Day”, is executed in acrylics on two attached canvases, it measures 100 cm in width and 160 cm in height.
From the womb of lust and suffering,
it sprouts in
a small, small world,
an endless, small world...
with its tiny, tiny mind,
its infinite, small mind.
From the womb of lust and suffering,
its fingertips, its lips, its eyes,
those little fingers,
fragile lips,
and endless eyes...
it sprouts,
it touches,
the infinite small world,
the infinite small mind.
This painting, titled “40th-Day”, is part of my current series. I drew inspiration from Salvador Dalí’s Metamorphosis of Narcissus. Executed in acrylics on two attached canvases, it measures 100 cm in width and 200 cm in height.
